Key Responsibilities:
- Visual Development: Create compelling concept art that defines the look and feel of environments, characters, props, and visual effects, aligning with the creative vision and artistic direction of the project.
- Character and Environment Design: Design detailed, imaginative, and story-driven characters and environments, showcasing unique styles and themes while ensuring consistency with the game’s world and lore.
- Ideation and Sketching: Develop quick sketches and idea iterations to explore a range of visual directions, collaborating with the art team to select the best creative approach for each element.
- Production Art: Deliver high-quality, production-ready concept art and illustrations that guide the 3D artists, animators, and level designers during asset creation.
- Style Guides and Reference Creation: Contribute to creating and maintaining visual style guides and reference libraries to ensure consistency across all visual aspects of the game.
- Mood and Colour Studies: Use colour, lighting, and composition to establish mood and atmosphere in illustrations, enhancing the emotional impact and visual storytelling of the game.
- Collaboration with Other Departments: Work closely with designers, artists, animators, and technical artists to ensure the art supports gameplay and works within technical constraints.
- Feedback and Iteration: Participate in critique sessions, provide and receive feedback constructively, and iterate on designs to achieve the highest quality possible.
- Research and Inspiration Gathering: Conduct research on relevant themes, genres, and trends, using real-world references and studies to inspire authentic and innovative concept art.
Key Requirements:
- 3+ years as a Concept Artist including experience of full game development cycles or live product releases.
- A portfolio demonstrating strong artistic and design skills across diverse themes and subjects, with an emphasis on realism.
- Proficient in industry standard concept design development processes and pipelines.
- Proficient in industry-standard software such as Photoshop, Procreate, or similar tools, with an understanding of 3D modelling software like Blender or ZBrush.
- Strong foundational art skills, including anatomy, perspective, composition, lighting, and colour theory, with the ability to create realistic artwork.
- Experience designing unique, imaginative, and believable monsters and creatures, demonstrating a deep understanding of anatomy, texture, and movement.
- A keen sense of visual storytelling, able to communicate narratives, moods, and themes effectively through illustration and design.
- Creative problem-solving skills, able to adapt quickly to feedback and explore multiple visual solutions within design constraints.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey ideas and concepts clearly and effectively within a team setting.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment, ensuring high-quality work is delivered on time.
- Willingness to learn new tools and techniques, and a proactive approach to staying up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in concept art and design.
- A strong passion for video games, with an understanding of how art and design impact player experience and game immersion.

Recruitment Process:
- Once our Talent Acquisition team receives your application, together with the hiring team, we will review your CV, portfolio and the answers you provided in the application form and if all the boxes are ticked, we’re moving to the next stage.
- Initial call with Talent Acquisition Specialist – During this call you’ll learn about the company and we learn about you. We’ll talk about your experience & expectations with working in a fully remote environment and we’ll talk about your expertise. We’ll finish this call with some admin questions. There will be an opportunity for you to ask any questions as well.
- After the initial call, usually 1 or 2 interviews with the hiring team follows. These interviews will be a bit more technical and will go deeper into your experience, skills & knowledge. As you would have signed an NDA by now, you’ll also learn a bit more about the project you would work on. During these interviews we’ll also focus on finding out whether you’re a good fit for our company culture and that we share the same values.
- We may or may not ask you to do the test – this is decided on an individual basis and you will receive instructions with the test.
- If everything goes well, the last step in the recruitment process is the offer presentation call with the Talent Acquisition Specialist and your future line manager to discuss the offer and next steps to get you successfully on board.
