After finishing Marvel’s Spiderman 2, it’s hard not to wonder what comes next. The game delivered an incredible story and left a lot of fans hoping for more. Fans were expecting new villains, or even a full spiderman 2 DLC expansion like the first game got back in 2018.
Unfortunately, that’s not going to happen this time. Insomniac Games has confirmed that Spider-Man 2 won’t be getting any story DLC. The news is understandably disappointing for players who were hoping to swing back into the action sooner rather than later.
|Why No Spiderman 2 DLC?
Many fans expected something similar to The City That Never Sleeps, the DLC for the first game, which added new missions featuring Black Cat, Hammerhead, and more. But Insomniac has chosen a different path this time.
It seems the studio decided to save its best ideas for the future instead of squeezing them into a smaller expansion. This happens more often than you might think, games like The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy both began as DLC concepts before being expanded into full standalone titles.
So, while it might feel disappointing in the short term, it could actually mean that the next Spider-Man game, or whatever Insomniac is planning next in this universe, will be even better because of it. Bigger stories and bolder gameplay ideas can flourish when they’re not confined to a smaller DLC package.
|What’s the Studio Focusing On?
One big reason for the lack of DLC is that Insomniac is already hard at work on their next major project, Marvel’s Wolverine. That game has been teased since 2021. It’s clear the team is putting lot of effort into making it stand out just as much as the Spider-Man games have.
Of course, the massive success of Spider-Man 2 makes it hard to believe the series is over. Even though nothing official has been announced yet, a Spider-Man 3 seems very likely at some point. But given how long big AAA games take to develop, and with Wolverine coming first, it may be a while before we see Peter and Miles back in action in a full sequel.

|What Do Players Get Instead?
While there’s no story DLC planned, Insomniac did release a New Game Plus update. This added some fun extras like new suits, alternate colors for existing suits, and enhanced photo mode features for players who want to replay the game with their progress intact.
It’s not quite the same as new story content, but it still gives fans something to enjoy while waiting for the next big chapter.
While it’s disappointing that Spider-Man 2 won’t get any new story DLC, it seems clear that Insomniac has bigger plans for the future. All the creativity and ideas that might have gone into DLC are likely being saved for something much bigger, possibly Spider-Man 3 or even a new story within the same universe.
For now, all eyes are on Marvel’s Wolverine to see what Insomniac delivers next. And when the time is right, it’s a safe bet that Peter and Miles will swing back into action in a future game, bigger and better than ever.
