Innersloth and Schell Games have unveiled Among Us 3D, a first-person perspective of the popular social deduction game. This new edition shifts from the original 2D perspective to a fully immersive 3D experience.
A New Dimension of Deception
Among Us 3D builds on the foundation of Among Us VR, which launched in 2022. Unlike the VR version, this edition does not require a headset, making it more accessible to players. The first-person perspective heightens immersion, making tasks more engaging and Impostor encounters more suspenseful.
Among Us 3D supports cross-platform play. Steam PC users can join lobbies with VR players on platforms like Meta Quest, Steam VR, PlayStation VR 2, and PICO. However, it does not support crossplay with the original 2D version due to significant gameplay differences.
Enhanced Gameplay Features
The game retains classic elements like task completion, sabotage, and emergency meetings. The first-person view adds new strategic layers. Players can use built-in proximity voice chat, eliminating the need for third-party apps. This feature enhances discussions and makes accusations more intense.
Minigames, both new and familiar, have been redesigned for first-person play. Players can customize their avatars with hats, gloves, and skins, adding a personal touch to the experience.
Upcoming Demo & Release Plans
A demo will be available during Steam Next Fest from February 24 to March 3, 2025. It will offer a preview of the game but won’t include all features, such as VR crossplay and additional cosmetics. The full release date remains unconfirmed, but players can wishlist the game on Steam for updates.
In-Game Economy & Future Updates
Among Us 3D will introduce “Stardust,” an in-game currency for cosmetic purchases. However, players won’t need Stardust to access game modes or features. This approach ensures fairness while supporting ongoing development.
Among Us 3D brings a fresh perspective to the franchise, blending first-person gameplay with cross-platform support. With its upcoming demo and planned features, it promises to offer a thrilling new way to experience social deduction.
