<p>ArenaNet is looking for a talented World Building Artist to help craft the world in our upcoming title, Guild Wars 3. In this role, you’ll help shape large-scale playable spaces that are visually compelling, navigable, and rich with atmosphere and environmental storytelling.</p>



<p>We’re looking for an artist with strong world-building instincts who understands how to create spaces that support gameplay, exploration, and player experience while maintaining a high visual quality bar. You’ll work closely with Environment Art, Design, Concept Art, Lighting, Tech Art, and Art Direction to build immersive worlds players want to spend time in.</p>

From flickering factory floors to pitch-black vents, you&#8217;ll set the emotional tone of every space players enter — working closely with art direction, environment, and VFX teams to bring each chapter to life.</p>



<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Responsibilities</h4>

<li>Design and implement optimized baked-lighting across all game environments, leveraging Unreal Engine’s GPU Lightmass workflows alongside selective stationary lighting to drive mood, tension, and narrative through light and shadow.</li>



<li>Collaborate closely with environment, VFX, and art direction teams to ensure lighting is consistent with the visual vision of each chapter</li>



<li>Develop and maintain lighting standards, style guides, and best-practice documentation for the team</li>

This role lives at the intersection of Environment Art and DevOps — you&#8217;ll bridge those teams, building tools and workflows that let artists move faster while plugging cleanly into our build, source control, and automation infrastructure.</p>



<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Responsibilities</h4>

<li>Own the UE5 lighting and bake pipeline end-to-end: configuration, distributed bake workflows, lightmap UV tooling, and bake validation</li>



<li>Build and maintain Python and Unreal Editor tooling that automates lighting and environment tasks and integrates with our Perforce and Jenkins infrastructure</li>



<li>Partner with DevOps to wire bakes and validation into Jenkins and surface pipeline telemetry</li>



<li>Diagnose and fix bake failures, lightmap artifacts, and performance regressions</li>



<li>Profile and optimize lighting cost across PC and console using Unreal Insights, RenderDoc, and stat commands</li>



<li>Maintain technical documentation and debugging guides that let environment artists self-serve</li>



<li>Act as the technical escalation point for lighting and bake-pipeline issues across the studio</li>

<li>7+ years of games industry experience with at least two shipped titles, with significant time in a Technical Artist role</li>

<li>Strong Python skills including the Unreal Python API</li>



<li>Hands-on profiling and optimization experience using Unreal Insights, RenderDoc, and GPU profilers</li>
