We’re looking for a designer-programmer hybrid to help us create gameplay prototypes that feel intimate and weirdly alive. Like a grub crawling on a hand, a starfish waving its arms, or a lizard emerging from its shell filtered through an aesthetic that includes classic fairytales, Jim Henson, and Junji Ito.

This is a highly creative, hands-on role for someone who’s already been building their own games, experimenting with mechanics, and chasing unusual ideas. You’ll be joining a small, senior team (currently 4 people) where you’ll be a core contributor to exploring and shaping the direction and feel of the game.

What you’ll do here

Gameplay Prototyping

Brainstorm new interactions between humans and animals

Build rapid 3D gameplay prototypes in Unreal

Act as the team’s champion for game feel — tuning movement controls, physics, and animal responses to feel more tactile, expressive, and alive

Creative Leadership

Collaborate with programmers, animators, and artists to push prototypes toward shipping experiences

Create art briefs and give feedback to help ensure visuals and gameplay reinforce each other

Participate actively in playtests and lead iteration discussions

What We’re Looking For

Core Experience

5+ years of professional game development experience

Strong ability to build gameplay prototypes (C++ experience preferred, or strong C# background with willingness to learn C++)

Proven experience creating expressive, “juicy” gameplay interactions

Experience designing 3D gameplay spaces

Creative FitWe’re especially excited about candidates who:

Have built non-standard gameplay systems — something beyond familiar combat or genre mechanics

Have an experimental mindset and are comfortable working in early, messy prototype phases

See games as holistic experiences and appreciate that creating the perfect moment can require implausible amounts of inter-disciplinary collaboration to make everything behave just so

Nice-to-Haves

Experience with Unreal Engine and Blueprint scripting

Familiarity with Blender or Maya

An interest in science, biology, or natural systems

Personal game projects, experimental prototypes, or indie releases

This is a fulltime role with benefits that include healthcare and a 401k. Our team is fully remote. If you’re outside of US timezones we ask that your day includes at least 4 hours of overlap with the team between 9am – 6pm, PT.

Mob Entertainment is a startup multimedia studio that is best known for our hit indie horror game “Poppy Playtime”. This franchise is one of the hottest new properties in gaming, and our team is naturally expanding as our ambition expands. To give a taste of our brand’s popularity, more than 100 billion YouTube views of Poppy Playtime related content have occurred since the game’s launch 4 years ago.

Role Overview

As Game Director you’ll have an important mission: to ensure that unannounced, upcoming
Mob game’s multiplayer systems properly convey the creative vision and that the vision remains
an integral part of the target co-op player experience. You will take ownership of this title and
work with all key stakeholders to steward its vision, quality, and long-term live-service health as
it scales.

You will also assist the GM of Games and CCO in reaching the strategic design and live-service
objectives set out for our upcoming game by guiding conceptual and systemic decisions through
Early Access and into ongoing operation. While your design leads focus on their areas of
ownership, you’ll pay attention to the larger picture, overseeing the game’s overall outcome:
progression, pace, co-op balance across party sizes, live-ops cadence, and quality.
You will ensure that all elements related to design, from encounter pacing to post-launch
content, work together cohesively to keep this upcoming game a rich, fun, and durable
multiplayer experience.

What You’ll Do

● Work with the GM of Games and CCO to ensure that design, art, and story stay true to
the vision that was set out in our game design document.
● Define best methods for a live, in-market multiplayer title and inform all teams.
● Communicate quality and content expectations to the design team on a regular basis,
balancing player-facing systems (enemy clarity and counterplay, objective legibility, co-
op status) against production constraints so that the systems take constraints into
account to ultimately create the optimum user experience for target players.
● Translate design and gameplay direction into specs that Level Design and Engineering
can bring to life, with particular attention to cooperative multiplayer systems and balance
tuning across party sizes.
● Harmonize design across all departments, making sure design has ready answers and
Jira requests for Engineering, Art, Sound, FX, etc., so that live content and post-launch
updates do not run behind schedule.
● Work hand in hand with other areas of the team: Art, Engineering, and Production to
ensure smooth operations on a live title.
● Report to the GM of Games and ensure he, upper management, and the Brand
Stewardship Committee are aware of the project’s status on a regular basis,
distinguishing incremental improvement work from major pivot proposals.
● Own the post-Early Access content roadmap and live-ops cadence, partnering with
Production and Product on monetization design so that content plans are grounded in a
realistic operating model.
● Build and run community and playtest feedback loops that convert player signal into a
prioritized, defensible backlog, without letting the roadmap become reactive to every
incoming request.
● Develop the creative vision for the game’s ongoing content in line with the product and
live-service vision.

● Participate in the proposal development process for future content and features (i.e.,
brainstorming).
● Participate in project follow-up meetings at all phases (Early Access, live operations, and
future content development).
● Write clear documentation, including required visual references

What You’ll Bring

● 4+ years of leadership experience in the video game industry, with direct experience
shipping and supporting a multiplayer or live-service title
● 5+ years of design experience in a lead or management role, including cooperative or
competitive multiplayer systems design and balance tuning across party sizes
● Knowledge of Unreal Engine and how to get the absolute most out of it
● Experience running post-launch content roadmaps and live-ops cadences for a title with
an active, in-market audience, including translating player and community feedback into
a prioritized roadmap
● Familiarity with project management software (e.g., Jira)
● Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, and presentation skills
● Effective cross-departmental communication: you have the know-how to comfortably
communicate with all disciplines (programming, art, design, marketing, community, and
so on)
● A highly collaborative and innovative spirit, with the confidence to hold sole creative
ownership of a title, including holding the line on scope with senior stakeholders when
needed
● The ability to take technical and production feasibility into account when coming up with
concepts
● Mentorship: you’re motivated to share your expertise to guide the next generation of
creatives
● Autonomy in using presentation and design tools (e.g., PowerPoint, Photoshop, Google
Slides, etc.)
● A solid understanding of the co-op multiplayer and live-service market, and a (fiery)
passion for video games

Salary Range
The base salary range for this position is listed below. Final compensation within the applicable
salary range will be determined based on factors such as the applicant’s experience,
qualifications, and work location.

San Francisco, CA; New York City, NY; Los Angeles, CA; Seattle, WA; Boston, MA; & DC
Metropolitan Areas: $200,000–$257,000 USD annually

Austin, TX; Denver, CO; Nashville, TN; Atlanta, GA; Chicago, IL; Dallas, TX; & Miami, FL
Metropolitan Areas: $174,000–$223,000 USD annually

All Other U.S. Locations: $148,000–$190,000 USD annually

Benefits
Mob Entertainment offers the following benefits to all eligible U.S.-based full-time employees:
profit sharing; medical, dental, and vision insurance; 401(k) matching; FSA/HSA; paid time off;
sick time; holidays; and parental leave

It’s a third-person beat’em’up with a full set of PC gaming features, including a deep storyline, a unique setting, cutscenes, intriguing enemies, memorable bosses, character progression, and, most importantly, breathtaking battles with a wide array of firearms.

As the project grows, we’re looking for an Environment Art Producer to take ownership of environment art production on SPINE.
Responsibilities:

Own the full environment art production process, including planning, scheduling, prioritization, backlog, and the order pipeline.

Evaluate the current approach and decide what to reuse, what to rebuild, and where to bring in modern pipelines and practices.

Own environment assembly and integration, tracking asset completion, review, and integration status.

Maintain the existing quality bar throughout process changes.

Serve as the connective layer between art leads and art direction, with the authority to align and unblock senior art staff.

Organize the process of optimizing content to hit target performance benchmarks.

Smartling is an AI-native translation platform that’s redefining how the world’s biggest brands go global — ranked #3 on Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies list. We’re growing rapidly at scale and are backed by Battery Ventures, a global technology-focused investment firm. While most companies are still figuring out how to use AI, we’ve spent years building it into the core of our platform — and we’re just getting started.

As a Commercial Customer Success Associate, you’ll own a book of 90+ commercial accounts, using automation and data-driven health signals to deliver a scaled, many-to-one engagement model. You’ll be the first point of contact for customer questions and feedback — executing targeted plays to protect renewal revenue and identifying accounts that need escalation before issues become risks. This role sits at the intersection of customer empathy and operational rigor, making it a great fit for someone who thrives on turning data into action.

You Will

Own a portfolio of 90+ commercial accounts through a scaled engagement model — leveraging automation tools and lifecycle playbooks to ensure every customer receives timely, relevant outreach.

Monitor account health signals (product usage, adoption trends, NPS, engagement data) and execute targeted plays to proactively address risk, drive adoption, and protect renewal revenue.

Serve as the first line of contact for inbound questions and feedback from commercial accounts, resolving issues quickly or routing them to the right internal team.

Drive the end-to-end renewal process for your book of business — tracking upcoming renewals, preparing value summaries, and managing renewal conversations to close.

Identify and escalate growth-ready accounts to the Account Management team and flag at-risk accounts to Customer Success leadership with a clear summary of the issue and recommended next steps.

Partner with CS Ops and tooling (e.g., AI or equivalent) to refine automation sequences, health scoring logic, and outreach cadences that improve outcomes across the commercial segment.

You Have

1–2 years of experience in a customer-facing role — Customer Success, Account Management, Support, or Sales — ideally in a B2B SaaS environment.

Comfort managing a high-volume book of business using automation and playbooks rather than purely white-glove, one-to-one engagement.

Familiarity with customer health scoring concepts.

Comfort with AI platforms (e.g., Claude) and curiosity around driving automation for scaled customer outcomes.

Strong written communication skills — you can craft a clear, concise customer email and tailor your tone based on account context.

Demonstrated ability to stay organized and prioritize across a large account base, balancing proactive outreach with inbound responsiveness.

Experience with CRM systems (Salesforce preferred) and comfort working across multiple tools simultaneously.

Preferred but not required

Experience in localization, translation technology, or the language services industry.

Exposure to renewal management or ownership of a commercial renewal cycle.

Familiarity with scaled CS methodologies such as digital-led or tech-touch engagement models.

Familiarity with CS platforms such as Gainsight, Totango, ChurnZero, or similar tools.

You Are

Accountable. You own your book of business and don’t wait to be told when an account needs attention — you monitor signals and act before problems compound.

Analytical. You’re comfortable reading health dashboards and usage data to decide where to focus your energy, not just relying on gut instinct.

Customer-Focused. You treat every commercial account — regardless of size — as a relationship worth protecting, and it shows in how you communicate.

Organized. Managing 90+ accounts without dropping the ball requires strong systems, and you’ve built habits that keep you on top of renewals, escalations, and follow-ups.

Collaborative. You work closely with Account Management, Support, and CS Ops — knowing when to loop someone in and how to hand off context clearly.

You Will Enjoy

Freedom - we are remote first

Growth – an opportunity to learn and advance your career

Wealth – we offer a competitive salary and 401(k) + company match

Wellness – health insurance; free medical plan for you and your family

Balance – flexible PTO + 11 holidays; generous parental leave

Culture - an energetic, value-driven, and fun culture and team spirit

Bonus – employee referral program and Apple equipment

*To work from home, you must have a strong internet connection, a quiet space, and a professional (distraction and clutter-free) background.

We are considering candidates based in the Pacific or Mountain time zones at this time.

Smartling is proud to be an equal-opportunity employer. We are committed to building an inclusive global team that represents a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, beliefs, skills, and experiences.

We use E-verify platform for the work authorization verifications.

The US national base pay range for this role is $65,000 – $75,000, not including a variable incentive component. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including geographic location as well as candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed.
