At Crystal Dynamics, we understand the critical role that camera design plays in delivering immersive and engaging gaming experiences. We are excited to welcome a creative and detail-oriented Associate Camera Designer to our dynamic team. This entry-level position provides a fantastic opportunity for a passionate individual to learn and grow within the AAA game development environment. You will collaborate with experienced designers to craft camera systems that enhance gameplay and storytelling. We seek someone who is eager to develop their skills and contribute innovative ideas to our upcoming projects.
As an Associate Camera Designer, you will:
- Assist in designing and implementing camera systems that enhance gameplay, cinematics, and overall player experience.
- Collaborate with senior designers, programmers, and artists to integrate camera systems into the game engine.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions, contributing creative ideas for camera movements, angles, and transitions.
- Support the development of camera design documentation, including flowcharts, shot lists, and technical specifications.
- Conduct playtesting sessions to gather feedback and identify areas for improvement in camera design.
- Make adjustments to camera systems based on feedback and testing results, ensuring smooth and immersive player experiences.
- Maintain open communication with team members to ensure alignment on design goals and project timelines.
To be considered for this role, we require the following:
- A degree in Game Design, Film Production, Interactive Media, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of camera design principles and methodologies.
- Familiarity with game development tools and software, such as Unity or Unreal Engine.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for creating engaging and cinematic game experiences.
- A portfolio showcasing your camera design work, including any relevant academic or personal projects.
Preference will be given to candidates who have:
- Experience with camera design tools and software, such as Unreal Engine, Unity, or similar.
- Knowledge of scripting or programming languages related to game development.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
It’ll be a bonus if you also have:
- Experience participating in game jams or other collaborative creative projects.
- Familiarity with 3D modeling and animation software.
- A keen interest in staying updated with industry trends and advancements in camera design.
