Poppy Playtime is one of hottest new properties in gaming, and our team is naturally expanding as our ambition expands. To give a taste of our brand’s popularity, Poppy Playtime had 7.5 billion views of Huggy Wuggy videos on YouTube.
Poppy Playtime fans and their engagement with the brand and its lore are at the heart of what we do in consumer products at Mob Entertainment. As the Product Developer (Merchandise) you play a critical role in extending the Poppy Playtime brand and favorite characters like Huggy Wuggy and the Smiling Critters into new areas, and working with best-in-class licensees to bring great products and experiences to life for our fans around the world.
Mob Entertainment is seeking a skilled Mid-Level 2D Concept Artist to create captivating interior environments for our upcoming unannounced project. In this role, you will work closely with the art and design teams to develop high-quality concept art that defines the look, feel, and atmosphere of unique interior spaces. With a strong understanding of composition, lighting, and design principles, you will create detailed and stylized environments that inspire and guide the production of in-game assets. This position is ideal for an artist who enjoys crafting immersive environments with a touch of the fantastical or futuristic.
What you will do:
- Design and develop concept art for a range of interior environments, from functional spaces to imaginative, atmospheric settings that align with the game’s visual style.
- Produce detailed sketches, line art, and fully-rendered concepts, showcasing composition, lighting, and mood to effectively convey the intended environment.
- Collaborate with level designers, environment artists, and other team members to iterate on designs, ensuring each environment serves gameplay and narrative goals.
- Create orthographic views, reference sheets, and detailed breakdowns to guide the 3D environment team in translating concepts into game-ready assets.
- Explore and develop unique design elements, materials, and textures to enrich the visual storytelling of each interior space.
- Maintain consistency in visual style and quality across all environment concepts, adapting based on feedback from the art director and team
Requirements:
- Proven experience in 2D concept art with a focus on environment design, and a portfolio showcasing high-quality interior environments.
- Strong understanding of spatial design, perspective, composition, and lighting to create immersive and visually compelling spaces.
- Proficiency in digital painting software such as Photoshop, with the ability to create detailed, polished concepts.
- Ability to work from brief and iterate on feedback to refine and finalize concepts that align with project goals.
- Experience working collaboratively in a production environment, ensuring designs meet gameplay and technical requirements.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience designing stylized or imaginative interior environments, particularly for games or animation.
- Familiarity with the production pipeline for 3D environments and an understanding of how concept art guides asset creation.
- Interest in designing environments that complement a rich, immersive world, with an ability to create spaces that feel grounded yet fantastical or futuristic.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
