When I first set foot on the alien planet in Satisfactory, I was both overwhelmed by its vastness. The game’s meticulously crafted map, spanning approximately 47.1 km².
A common question I see from Satisfactory players who maybe haven’t played for 100 of hours yet. That’s If there are multiple maps in Satisfactory or if all of the starting locations are all on the same map. And it’s not a dumb question. Considering the game presents four starting locations that all mention different difficulty levels and different environments. It seems like maybe these are different maps that support different difficulty levels and ranges of experience.
How big is the satisfactory map?
Satisfactory only has one single map, and all of the starting locations are different locations on the same large map. If you’re curious more about how the map works keep reading.
Satisfactory only includes one hand-drawn map and this map is not generated procedurally. This method guarantees that every corner and cranny has been carefully positioned, offering distinctive challenges and vistas.
The map’s coordinates range from -3246, -3750 (North West) to 4253, 3750 (South East), and it covers an area of roughly 7.972 km from west to east and 6.8 km from north to south.

Numerous biomes on the world

Grass Fields: The Grass Fields is an ideal location for newer players. It’s very flat making it easy to build and easy to explore. Resource variety and amount are the highest, but the area encourages newer players to branch out and explore the map naturally without adding too much of a challenge.
Rocky Desert: The Rocky desert has a little bit of everything and is a good starting point as well. You sacrifice a bit of flatness in order to get more resource diversity compared to the grassy fields. A medium-sized desert area with little biomass that makes resource collection more difficult.
Northern Forest: A lush, elevation-challenged region that is mountainous and rich in common biomass.
Dune Desert: This is an ideal location for experienced players as the terrain is flat and there are ton of resources. A vast, sandy expanse with scarce biomass, testing players’ resourcefulness in a harsher climate.
One of the most rewarding aspects of Satisfactory is the sense of discovery. Whether it’s stumbling upon a hidden cave, optimizing a production line, or simply admiring a breathtaking vista. The game’s map offers endless opportunities for exploration and creativity.
I’ve gathered a detailed Satisfactory map to help players navigate, find resources efficiently, and enhance their factory-building experience. This is from satisfactory 1.0 with added nodes. The posted image shows Resources Nodes that are added, removed, increased purity level, or decreased purity level, but does NOT show existing Resource Nodes. Those can be considered as remaining with no change in Purity Level or location.
If you want to check out current resource nodes, this is the link.

What is beyond the Map?
If you decide to go off the land, you can swim around in water for a while, but eventually you will hit the edge of the map. But unlike some games where there is an invisible wall, satisfactory will just start to kill you. When you reach the border of map, the game will start dealing damage to player’s health, killing you in moments.
In conclusion, the map in Satisfactory is more than just a backdrop; it’s a dynamic world that challenges and inspires. Its handcrafted design makes every corner worth exploring with diverse biomes, and the tools available for navigation create a amazing gaming experience. The game’s map offers endless opportunities for exploration and creativity. Every expedition into its vast landscapes brings new adventures, making each session uniquely memorable.
Satisfactory is currently available on PC, players can get it through steam. Start exploring for yourself.
