Is Battlefield 5 Cross Platform?

Is Battlefield 5 Cross Platform

A lot of players ask the same thing: is Battlefield 5 cross platform? The short answer is no. Battlefield 5 is not cross platform. PC players can only play with PC. Xbox players stick to Xbox. Playstation players stay on their side too. It doesn’t mix.

|Why Battlefield 5 Isn’t Cross Platform

When Battlefield 5 came out back in 2018, cross play wasn’t really a big feature yet. Only a few games had it. Developers were still figuring out how to balance different systems. DICE built Battlefield 5 without it. To make Battlefield 5 cross platform today, they’d have to change servers, matchmaking, and even controls. That’s not a small job.

I remember waiting for updates after launch. Thinking maybe they would add cross play in a patch. But it never happened. DICE moved on to new projects and Battlefield 5 stayed the same. So Battlefield 5 cross platform support never arrived.

The series did change later. Battlefield 2042 added some level of cross play. On PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, players can be in the same lobby. But even then, PS4 and Xbox One were separated. So while Battlefield 2042 made a step forward, Battlefield 5 cross platform play still does not exist.

This difference often confuses new players. Some think all Battlefield games have the same features. But that’s not true. Each title is built in its own way. Battlefield 5 was built before cross play became the standard.

|Can You Still Play Battlefield 5?

Yes, the game is still alive. Servers are running and matches are playable. On PC, finding a game is quick. On console, sometimes slower, but you’ll still get in. I joined a few rounds recently and it felt the same as years ago, tanks rolling, planes overhead, chaos everywhere.

But here’s the catch: if you and your friends are on different systems, you can’t squad up. That’s the biggest drawback. Cross platform play never came, so you need to be on the same device if you want to team up.

|Will It Ever Change?

At this point, no. Battlefield 5 is an old title and DICE has moved on. Support is limited to keeping servers online. Big features like cross play won’t be added. If you really want a Battlefield game with cross play, Battlefield 2042 is the one to try and with Battlefield 6 on the horizon you can expect crossplay and many more features.

So, is Battlefield 5 cross platform? No, it’s not. It never had cross play and it won’t get it now. That doesn’t mean the game is dead. It’s still fun, still active, and still one of the most unique World War II shooters out there. Just remember, if your friends are on another system, you’ll need to pick the same one. Battlefield 5 cross platform support simply isn’t part of the game.
